We collaborate on developing innovative solutions for complex projects in the areas of advanced water and wastewater process design, water supply, conveyance, pumping, and storage.



Responsibilities:

An opportunity exists or a CAD Technologist - GIS Specialist in Stantec's Red Deer office to work closely with the Environmental Infrastructure group to provide both business and technical expertise to the needs of our clients.  This office is comprised of over 130 people serving our clients locally and across Canada.  Responsibilities include:

  • Creating and maintaining spatial information in a variety of platforms in various GIS software packages including:
    • CIRI Arcview,
    • Autodesk products,
    • SQL databases.
  • Create, edit and analyze GIS/CAD figures as needed.
  • Research and maintain data.
  • Create and edit coverages, shapefiles, personal geodatabases.
  • Implement QA/QC procedures and standards for data storage and project processes.
  • GIS projects include:
    • Linear projects,
    • Environmental assessments and biological and ecological impact assessments,
    • Water and groundwater resource management,
    • Site assessment and remediation.
Qualifications:
  • A diploma from a recognized Civil Engineering Technology, Engineering Design and Drafting Technology, or a related technology program
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience with the delivery of GIS projects, ESRI suite of applications, Autodesk applications.
  • Familiar with airphotos, database managment systems, web GIS tools.
  • Expereince with municipal and environmental projects such as water and wastewater linear projects is an asset.
  • Excellent design drafting skills in AutoCAD and related products
