Our Environmental Management group is dedicated to managing environmental issues professionally and proactively. Our staff of professionals includes specialists in marine biology, wetland science, wildlife biology, soil science, fisheries biology, botany, hydrogeology, hydrology, forestry, habitat and ecosystem restoration, permitting, GIS, and Information Management. We help our clients to identify and respond to opportunities and threats within constantly changing regulatory and corporate environments, through active engagement with the public, stakeholder groups, and governmental regulators. Our team members have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of projects that may include endangered species assessments, habitat restoration, wetland characterizations, and water resources management. We are seeking exceptionally talented and enthusiastic individuals with a keen interest in the natural sciences to join our team and advance their career.



Responsibilities:

  

Stantec Calgary's downtown (8th Avenue) office is seeking a Senior GIS Project Lead.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Working directly with both internal and external clients.
  • Designing solution strategies for the spatial and tabular analysis components on a variety of environmental assessment projects.
  • Project and discipline management.
  • Leading teams of GIS practitioners.
  • Mentoring and training staff


Qualifications:
  • Geomatics degree or diploma from a recognized post secondary institution.
  • Minimum of 8 years relevant GIS/Geomatics experience on environmental projects.
  • Project management and leadership experience.
  • Expert knowledge in GIS modeling and analysis.
  • Experience in the following:
    • Spatial database design and development,
    • Programming and scripting,
    • GIS analysis
  • Independent problem solving skills with the ability to work as part of a larger team.
  • Superior communication, both verbal and written, skills.
