Overview:

 

Our Environmental Management group is dedicated to managing environmental issues professionally and proactively. Our staff of professionals includes specialists in marine biology, wetland science, wildlife biology, soil science, fisheries biology, botany, hydrogeology, hydrology, forestry, habitat and ecosystem restoration, permitting, GIS, and Information Management. We help our clients to identify and respond to opportunities and threats within constantly changing regulatory and corporate environments, through active engagement with the public, stakeholder groups, and governmental regulators. Our team members have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of projects that may include endangered species assessments, habitat restoration, wetland characterizations, and water resources management. Responsibilities:

  

Stantec Calgary's downtown (8th Ave SW) office, is seeking a Senior Wildlife Biologist to join our Wildlife team.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage and conduct :
    • Biological inventories,
    • Environmental impact assessments,
    • A variety of natural resource planning projects.
  • Senior level project management.
  • Data analysis and management.
  • Report preparation.
  • Client relations.
  • Supervision of interdisciplinary teams.
  • Senior review.


Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10 years experience which must include some consulting with oil and gas and pipeline related projects.
  • Experience leading Environmental Assessments.
  • Extensive experience with Wildlife and EA legislation and regulatory agencies (e.g. ERCB, NEB, and CEAA).
  • Experience with Western, Prairie and Northern ecosystems, particularly Alberta and BC.
  • Strong written and verbal skills (Publications must include peer reviewed technical papers and regulatory submissions).
