Your Opportunity

Stantec has an exciting opportunity for an Architectural Designer or Intern Architect in our Whitehorse, Yukon office to cover a one year maternity leave beginning mid-July or August.


This opportunity will provide you with diverse work experience and the chance to have a multifaceted job position, which includes travel to a variety of communities throughout the North, particularly Yukon.

Your Duties

Key responsibilities include:

  • Construction administration, including visiting remote project site locations across the Yukon
  • Prepare schematic design and design development reports and presentations
  • Prepare schematic design, design development and construction document drawing sets
  • Sketching, hand drafting and computer drafting
  • Prepare computer animations and renderings
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Revenue generation through proposal writing and client management

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Minimum of a four-year university degree in Architecture from an accredited university
  • 4 years related experience with commercial, mixed use development or institutional facilities such as healthcare and education (an experienced Architectural or Buildings Engineering Technologist would be considered)
  • Experience in construction administration and working on the project site
  • Excellent knowledge of Canadian architectural standards and practices, compatible software, and construction materials and methods
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD required. Proficiency in REVIT and the Adobe Creative Suite preferred
  • Effective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple projects, performing a variety of tasks, and meeting required deadlines while working independently under minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) as well as good relationship building skills with respect to interactions with team members, clients, suppliers and contractors
  • Ability to conduct project site travel
