Stantec is currently seeking a Planner for our Edmonton, AB office. The position is part of the Community Development practice’s Planning group that routinely works on a variety of public agency and private development projects including planning for new neighbourhoods, infill and transit oriented development.

Your Duties

  • Preparation and/or analysis of planning related policy documents, site plans, subdivisions, road closure and rezoning applications.
  • Ability to liase, collaborate and communicate with clients, government agencies, residents and community groups.
  • Conduct research regarding planning policy, land use, social and economic topics;
  • Provide professional planning advice regarding planning policy and zoning interpretation and regulatory approvals;
  • Communicating with other multidisciplinary team members on relevant aspects of projects.
  • Presentation skills to speak to a range of audiences including the general public, business groups and municipal Councils;
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and other business development activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • A degree in Urban Planning, a Master’s degree in Planning is preferred;
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience; or equivalent.
  • Membership, or eligibility, of the Canadian Institute of Planners or Alberta Professional Planners Institute;
  • Experience in subdivision design and innovative planning approaches is considered an asset;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated public consultation and engagement experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of planning theory, practice and procedures.
  • Creative problem solving and analytical skills.
