A senior leadership position is available as Business Center Managing Leader (BCML) for the Environmental Services team in our Canada Mountain operating region, based out of our Burnaby, British Columbia office.


The BCML reports directly to the Regional Leader (RL)-British Columbia, with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Regional Business Leader (RBL) for Environmental Services in Western Canada.  The BCML is the recognized operational leader of a Business Center (BC), accountable for the attainment of the BC's management, financial, and performance objectives. The BCML is expected to consult and/or participate in significant proposals and projects undertaken within a BC. With strong operational skills, and working with the Business Center Leadership Team, the BCML is responsible for the realization of financial operating results and objectives of the BC, the development of annual operating budgets and the preparation and implementation of the BC business plans and practice area goals, with a primary focus on growth, technical excellence, and financial objectives.

Your Duties

  • Overall fiscal and operational responsibility/performance for the Business Center
  • Development of annual operating budgets
  • Employee engagement and communication
  • Oversight of Project Management performance and allocation of resources for projects
  • Coach direct reports on leadership skills, accountability and business performance
  • Monitoring and oversight of project workloads
  • Staff recruitment and training
  • Employee retention and engagement
  • Business development and enhancement
  • Professional fee negotiating and scheduling
  • Supervise multi-disciplinary teams within the Business Center
  • Adhering to corporate and industry standards
  • Continuous improvement of systems and technology
  • Participation on the Regional Management Team(s)
  • Work collaboratively and communicate regularly with Business Center, Regional and National Leadership to achieve business objectives

Your Capabilities and Credentials

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or related field is required
  • Minimum of 10 years of working experience in the environmental sector
  • Strong understanding of the British Columbia environmental services market
  • Possess the following personal leadership qualities: integrity, creativity, high standards, commitment, ethical values, with a results oriented approach
  • Understanding financial reporting and ability to impact positive changes on AR, WIP, utilization and budget targets
  • Excellent organizational, strategic, planning and implementing skills
  • Committed to succession planning and staff development
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments, key business partners, and clients
  • Strong presentation, written, and verbal skills with ability to clearly convey information to a variety of audiences
