Are you a strong communicator? Do you love to write and tell stories? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple initiatives at once?

 

Stantec is looking for a Communications Specialist who can effectively tell the “Stantec story” to our audiences—both internal and external. We are looking for someone who has amazing journalistic abilities who understands how to develop messages, and write for various audiences.

 

About the role

The Communications Specialist is responsible for helping to implement the region’s communications plan. Specifically, you will:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with regional sources
  • Pitch story ideas to key stakeholders internally
  • Write and implement communications plans
  • Write compelling stories for multiple formats, including web, print, social media, etc. (creative writing)
  • Apply your writing skills to effectively reach audiences in a business setting (business writing)
  • Provide editing and proofreading support to the marketing team, and other practioners, as required
  • Work with internal designers to facilitate compelling photography in support of your stories
  • Actively take part in social media initiatives

The ideal candidate is comfortable in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, can manage multiple concurrent initiatives, and enjoys working with different personality styles and management levels, both in person and across geographies.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Post-secondary education in journalism, communications, or a related area
  • 1–3 years’ experience
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Effective interviewing skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with senior management, supervisors, peers, and clients
  • Ability to work effectively within a group, as well as independently

Having team spirit, a flair for details, an uncanny knack for multi-tasking, exceptional prioritization skills, and organizational mojo will be an asset in our busy, dynamic, and professional business environment.
