    Stantec’s Waterloo Ontario Water Practice is looking for a two (2) highly motivated professionals with 5-10 years of municipal water and/or wastewater experience. As the successful candidate, you will use your technical, project management, and client service skills to: plan, design, and construct water/wastewater treatment plant facilities (distribution, collection, treatment); work with world leading experts company-wide to bring innovative solutions and technologies to the local market; and foster/grow our business in the Southern Ontario market and beyond.


    As the successful candidate, you have 5-10 years’ experience in the Municipal Water/Wastewater sector including but not limited to: water quality studies, water/wastewater treatment process design, client service. Registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario is an asset. Experience with hydraulic or water quality monitoring is an asset. Your ability to work in a team environment, with minimal supervision, is an asset. Ideally, you are a self-motivated individual possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks. You have a commitment to thrive in a proactive organization where client service is second to none.

    Your Duties

    • Perform detailed studies (water quality investigations, process optimization, pilot studies, etc.), modeling and design of municipal water and wastewater systems and related facilities;
    • With minimal supervision, prepare plans and specifications and other contract documents for water and wastewater facilities;
    • Supervise and coordinate junior engineers and technical staff to ensure that the projects’ needs are met in a timely and effective manner;  
    • Meet with clients and contractors to review project needs and coordinate field conditions;
    • Coordinate with internal and external design disciplines;
    • Manage project schedule and budget;
    • Perform engineering services during construction, including contract administration and coordination of inspectors;
    • Provide scope of work and proposal support as necessary;
    • Research issues related to wastewater and water resources that impact individual projects; and
    • Write detailed design reports to document analyses.

    Your Capabilities and Credentials

    • Degree in Process Civil, or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
    • P.Eng designation in Ontario or ability to obtain designation.
    • 5-10 years of facilities or project engineering experience working within the Municipal Water/Wastewater market.
    • Experience in construction support services including contract administration/site inspection.
    • Must have facility commissioning experience.
    • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and legislation.
    • Ability to multitask, in both capacities of handling multiple jobs/projects, and be able to carry out multiple tasks and scalability within each project.
    • Must be self-motivated individual possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
    • High level of initiative and ability to complete tasks on schedule and budget.
    • Focused on providing quality services to the clients in a timely manner.
    • Various hydrologic and hydraulic software platforms used in the planning and design of infrastructure is a plus.
    • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
    • Innovative mindset, seeking creative solutions to technical and business challenges.
