This position will be responsible for performing the duties associated with design, testing, evaluation and installation of cathodic protection (CP) systems.  This position is primarily office based, but incorporates some occasional field work and an ideal candidate will have good driving record and sound CP field experience and knowledge. This position would include opportunity to cross train in other Integrity related fields such as pipeline threat assessment and inspection data analysis.  We are seeking an individual that is self-motivated with a positive attitude, an eagerness to learn and has a high attention to detail.

Your Duties

  • Work independently, as well as with other CP/Integrity staff and clients, on project specific tasks and provide effective communication.
  • Conduct various test procedures and data gathering for CP/Integrity evaluations including, but not limited to, continuity testing, interference testing and current requirement testing.
  • Completing tasks related to the installation, energization, and maintenance of cathodic protection and AC mitigation systems.
  • Gather structure-to-soil potential data, soil measurements and rectifier data.
  • Install, test, adjust and/or repair rectifiers, anodes, and CP test points/stations.
  • Locate pipelines and document/understand GPS positional pipeline information and equipment.
  • Identify and remediate AC and/or DC interference issues.
  • Generate field sketches or field updates of existing drawings with applicable detail for design, IFC or as-built drawings.
  • Prepare and/or assist senior personnel in the preparation of survey and design reports
  • Collect, prepare and organize descriptive field data, including charts and tables as required.
  • Complete data analysis for NDE, ILI, and variety of Integrity inspection programs.
  • Field evaluation/direct assessment of pipeline defects, such as corrosion and SCC.
  • Compile recommendations, system modifications and solutions to identified problems.
  • Provide maintenance of field equipment and tools, ensure good operating condition and complete minor repairs.
  • Conform to corporate, client and regulatory operating and safety procedures and policies.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

The successful candidate will have:

  • The ability and willingness to travel for multiple days to remote locations (5-8 weeks/yr) and work overtime.
  • The ability and desire to learn new tasks and skills within Asset Integrity.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office.
  • Effective problem solving skills.
  • A mature and professional attitude.
  • A strong team attitude with commitment to customer service.
  • A strong application and understanding on safety and safety culture.
  • Effective time management skills.


  • 1 to 3 years of experience in an Oil & Gas industry field support role.
  • P. Eng. or E.I.T. with ability to obtain P. Eng. status in Alberta.
  • Minimum NACE CP Tester (CP1) Certification.
  • AIT designated occupation Cathodic Protection Technician, with the ability to legally work on rectifiers within Alberta, is required.
  • Must be physically fit, willing to work outdoors and able to lift 20kg (44lb) when required.
  • Valid Alberta driver’s license with a good driving record, and be competent and comfortable in driving ½ ton truck in all field situations.
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment and client based pre-access drug and medical testing.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Safety Tickets such as First Aid, CSTS, H2S, WHMIS considered an asset.
