    EM&I Stantec Ltd. was incorporated in Canada in 2000.  It is a joint venture company owned by Stantec Consulting Limited of Canada and EM&I (Maritime) in the UK.  EM&I Stantec offers Engineering, Inspection, O-AIMS (Operations Asset Integrity Management System) and Quality services to Oil, Gas and Energy Companies.

    Your Duties

    We have an immediate opening for a permanent full time Senior Technician: Rope Access/NDE to join our team in our Dartmouth, NS office.

    The Senior Technician will conduct inspections and minor repair/maintenance activities and be responsible to ensure that safe work practices (including those for Rope Access activities) are followed in accordance with defined work scopes and client requirements.


    All candidates must be willing to work on offshore oil and gas platforms for extended periods.  Regular air and boat travel is required.  Local and international travel will also be required.

    The ideal candidate will possess a combination of experience and trade certifications:

    • A minimum Level 2 NDE certification in 2 or more methods
    • Visual Inspection certification: API, NACE, CWB etc.
    • Basic Survival Training or willing to obtain training
    • IRATA (Rope Access) certification or obtain training
    • Technical College Diploma programs in Mechanical Engineering Technologist or other formal technical training would be an asset
    • Competency in standard Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

    Your Capabilities and Credentials

    Experience Competencies:


    The successful applicant will have previous offshore oil and gas supervisory or inspection experience (minimum 5 years), with a strong background in inspection and an understanding of insulation and coating practices, minor repair works and familiarity with Rope Access (IRATA) and rigging techniques and procedures.  Drug and alcohol testing and Security background checks will be required.

    Wage:  $40 - $55/hour, offshore pay structure based on a blended day rate (12 hours per day including overtime premiums).
