Your Duties

This position plays an integral role in delivering general HR services to business leaders. Working in collaboration with the HR Client Services team across Canada Central and Atlantic, as well as working with our Centers of Expertise, you will work to provide strategic HR support that enables the business. This dynamic Human Resources Consultant opportunity supports multiple regional business units throughout the Ontario South West Region.  The role can be based in our Waterloo, Guelph or Stoney Creek locations.    

  • Provide internal HR consulting to develop and execute of an overall people management strategy including; communication, engagement, talent development, succession planning, change management, diversity and inclusion positively impacting Stantec’s culture;
  • Act as a trusted HR advisor and partner with leadership creating solutions for a variety of HR matters;
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal client groups, including employees, managers and senior leaders within the region;
  • Facilitate the performance management cycle, the compensation planning cycle as well as ad-hoc employee changes;
  • Facilitate performance, team-building and planning sessions with managers and employees; and
  • Develop and implement HR related projects and participate on special projects as needed.

 

Your Capabilities and Credentials

As the ideal candidate, you will possess the following:

 

  • A post-secondary degree in Human Resources, Business or a related field;
  • A minimum of five (5) years of related and progressive experience with particular emphasis on employee relations in a non-unionized environment;
  • Well-developed consulting skills, including well-developed communication and conflict resolution skills;
  • Ability to quickly establish trust and build effective working relationships;
  • A thorough understanding of compensation and other terms and conditions of employment;
  • A thorough understanding of Ontario employment legislation;
  • Adaptability to rapidly changing demands;
  • Results focus with a strong detail orientation;
  • CHRP designation preferred;
  • Proficiency in a second language is an asset; and
  • Travel between local offices in Ontario South West Region.
