Our Oil & Gas division is currently seeking  an Intermediate Planner/Scheduler to join our team in the Calgary office. 

 

Your Duties

Summary of Functions:

 

The responsibility of the Planner/Scheduler is to create, revise, update, report on and control the project schedule. The Planner/Scheduler will analyze progress against the baseline schedule and direct the project management team towards the most vulnerable areas of the project plan.  These objectives can best be achieved by:

  • Fully understanding the scope of the project.
  • Driving the development of the project schedule.
  • Working closely with the project team to maintain a current and accurate understanding of project status, critical path and slippage against baseline.
  • Producing understandable, timely and useful reports.
  • Keeping the project team informed of barriers to maintaining the schedule.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Initiate discussions with project stakeholders to identify key elements in schedule set-up.
  • Liaise with Project Management Team and Client to establish list of approved schedule reports.
  • Liaise with cost control to ensure alignment of schedule with control budget.
  • Prepare and establish baseline schedule in conjunction with Engineering.
  • Procurement, and Construction Team Members as well as other stakeholders.
  • In conjunction with cost and project management team establish and apply Rules of Credit to establish progress and calculate earned value.
  • Assume responsibility for preparation, quality, accuracy and timeliness of schedule reports.
  • Clearly communicate to all stakeholder’s status of project schedule.
  • Suggest methods to improve project plan and mitigate schedule slippage.
  • Review, assess and analyze contractor progress and performance as required.
  • Support risk analysis with project management.
  • Produce Basis of Schedule document.

Reporting Relationships:

 

The Project Planner/Scheduler will report to the Manager, Scheduling Department within the Oil & Gas Business Unit.  He/she will also have a reporting relationship with the Project Manager or Project Controls Lead when assigned to projects.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Koweledge:

 

The Planner/Scheduler must have a very good understanding of global best practices in project scheduling as well as earned value management. 

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Advanced skill in use of Oracle Primavera.
  • Strong communication skills: verbal, business writing, electronic communications and presentations.
  • Ability to work under low supervision and to work with others to achieve group results.
  • Ability to multi-task, work on several projects or tasks at once, manage time, organize, and set priorities.
  • Business awareness and acumen: knowledge of project deliverables, time and resource availability.
  • Possess strong problem solving skills.
  • Ability to make timely decisions.
  • Positive attitude with strong relationship building skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Advanced skill with Oracle Primavera.
  • 5+ years of experience in project scheduling in engineering, procurement, and construction for large capital projects.
  • Excellent knowledge of global best practices.
  • Experience in implementing standards in projects.
  • Pipeline project experience will be considered an asset.
